UNDERSTANDING THE ASTM TEST METHODS
ASTM D638 • Tensile Strength
Measures the ultimate force required to pull resinous coating specimen apart. Higher tensile ratings ensure resistance to mechanical shear and slab movement stress.
ASTM D695 • Compressive Strength
Measures the capacity of the material to withstand heavy static loads, forklift traffic, and heavy machinery without crushing or micro-fracturing.
ASTM D4541 • Direct Tensile Adhesion
Direct pull-off test using a hydraulic dolly. All Epoxy49 formulations exceed 400–450 psi, resulting in complete tensile failure of the concrete slab before adhesive bond failure.
ASTM D2240 • Shore D Hardness
Quantifies indentation hardness with a durometer. Shore D 82–86 represents an exceptionally dense cross-linked polymeric matrix resistant to gouges.
ASTM F1869 / F2170 • Moisture Vapor Emission
Measures slab moisture vapor emission rate (MVER) and internal slab relative humidity. MVB 49 suppresses up to 25 lbs / 1,000 sq ft and 99% RH.
EPA Method 24 / SCAQMD • VOC Emissions
Determines volatile organic compound content in compliance with 50-state emissions laws, permitting installation in hospitals, schools, and occupied spaces.
